Artists’ homes and studios are being opened up to paying guests as part of the Art Rotterdam fair this month.
Visitors signing up to the Hotel Rotterdam project will be allocated a room with one of 24 participating artists, whose name will not be revealed until after they have paid.
Some of the artists are accommodating guests in their homes, while others have integrated the overnight stay into their work for the exhibition.
The organisers of “wake up in art” said they wanted to create an element of surprise by not allowing the guests to choose their hosts.
The novel event is also billed as a chance for artists to engage directly with visitors and discuss their work.
The price of €40 for a single visitor or €60 for a couple also includes breakfast, prepared and served by your artist. You won’t get that kind of service at the Hilton.
Accommodation can be booked until February 12 through the wakeupinart.nl website.
