The duo were arrested in April for crossing a land border into Pakistan without a visa in an incident which prompted high-level diplomatic talks between the two nations.
On December 30 the Dutch ambassador in Islamabad met the Pakistani foreign minister, who demanded the arrest of the two men, both of Moroccan origin, on their return to Europe.
However, it is unclear if the Dutch authorities will carry out the request. The men were detained in Pakistan for visa infringements and not formally accused of any terrorist offence.
They were detained by the secret service after being suspected of attempting to forge links with al-Qaida groups in Pakistan.
Another Dutch citizen, Sabir K, was arrested at Schiphol in April after being deported from Pakistan, after the United States said it wanted to press charges against him.
